Me Leica! Posted May 23, 2019 Share #1 Posted May 23, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I picked up a Panasonic DMC-LC1 for peanuts recently, and it occurred to me I should try and get hold of a spare battery. Even here in Japan that's a tough order, but I found a place selling one. Here's where the confusion sets in. It's described as a battery for the Digilux 1, 2 and 3, as well as the "Panasonic DMC-L1 series, Lumix DMC-L1, Lumix DMC-L1KEG-K and Lumix DMC-". I get the impression that the DMC L1 and DMC LC1 are different, but I know that the DMC-LC1 and Digilux 2 are essentially the same camera. So can I assume this battery will fit my DMC-LC1? All these names are driving me insane. I always maintained that Japanese companies are excellent at making cameras and very bad at naming them! adan Posted May 24, 2019 Share #2 Posted May 24, 2019 DMC-L1 was also sold as the Leica Digilux 3. So they were back-to-back products. I do note in the dpreview.com reviews from all those years ago that there is a small difference in total power capacity (1400 mAh for the LC-1/D2 vs 1500 mAh for the L1/D3). Assuming they are otherwise identical in shape/pins/volts, that would just mean a few more shots with one than the other. And the pix of the batteries show the same double-humped shape for both. I'll bet someone here had D2 and D3 cameras and can confirm battery interchangability or not.
