gogopix Posted July 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe its the default, but I saw where one pro was using ACDSEE for viewing and wow, I downloaded the beta of PRO 2 and take a look LR then ACDSEE These are poor hypersnaps, but the LR is fuzasy and the ACDSEE is nice and sharp. I tried some of their tools, well, I must say, if this pans out (and there is no issue with DNG files) we may have another player in the area of a cheap processor (now, I still use C1 and PS for REAL work but for quick catalogs, and downloads, and even for cataloging looks neat and beta is free now try it regards
Advertisement Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Hi gogopix, Take a look here LR vs ACDSEE. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gogopix Posted July 27, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted July 27, 2007 What? no response? Even from the rabid LR fans :-)
carstenw Posted July 27, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 27, 2007 ACDSee is for Windows, isn't it? Something like 75-80% of users here have Macs...
sdai Posted July 27, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2007 I think the lack of response is probably because most folks haven't tried the pro version of AC/DC (right, that's how I call it all the time ... LOL) ... some folks might have just confused it with AC/DC photo manager and never minded at all. I don't like LR at all ...

stunsworth Posted July 27, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 27, 2007 Something like 75-80% of users here have Macs... Do we? Anyhow, I'm struggling to see why this is in the M8 section in the first place. One thing to bear in mind with Betas is that they usually expire at some point.
carstenw Posted July 27, 2007 Share #7 Posted July 27, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) That number is an intelligent guess, based on an earlier thread where many people posted their platform. It could be arbitrarily wrong, of course...
AlanG Posted July 27, 2007 Share #8 Posted July 27, 2007 Really surprised no MAC versionwould have expected it to be bi-platform :-) Somehow I thought they added a Mac version a few years ago, but I guess I was wrong. I do find the program incredibly fast for browsing and sorting images, printing thumbnails, creating simple slide shows and web albums. I also use it to organize my on-line and off-line libraries. I do not use it for any raw conversions. (Although it might work well for that.) I haven't tried the new beta version 2 of the "pro" software but I have tried pro version 1. The pro version #1 main differences from the "consumer" version is support for 16 bit, color management and some added features in the web page generators and a few other things. (I haven't made a study of this.) Most of this was included in the consumer version #7 that had a special pro add on. But by version 8 they split them up. When I "upgraded" from 7, I lost all of these "pro" features, so I looked at the pro version and found that the web album generator has been changed and some of the features I need have been removed. (The ability to make the web page "Home" button point to my website's home page.) So I'm a little stuck using version 7 and 9 unless this has been changed on the pro 2 version. I guess I have to download the beta and try it.

Unfortunately you still cannot add a "home" to the header graphic in an html album. feature requests can be submitted to ideas[a]acdsee com. consider it already submitted. Regarding the ACDSee Pro 2 beta, preview the new tools: ACDSee Pro 2.0 Beta enhanced RAW processing color separation Channel Mixer Sorting & Tagging IPTC Support Batch Processing Image Compare and more... MP3 Posted July 29, 2007 Share #10 Posted July 29, 2007 I downloaded and run the pro 2 beta version for just 2 days. Very impressive processing speed in DNG/RAW browsing, DNG color is fine as well. I believe it will be a fast great cataloging program.
