mihkels Posted May 16, 2019 Share #1  Posted May 16, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got my hands on an old Leica R4 MOT body with a 35mm f2 Summicron and a 135mm f2.8 Elmarit. The body had some electrical problems but fresh batteries and some cleaning brought it back to life. The Elmarit isn't that interesting but the Summicron seems to be quite rare - it's the 1st Gen made in 1970, with the serial in the 2464501-2466500 range. Considering the age, it's in a really good condition - there are obviously some marks on the lens body, but the glasses are clean without hazing or fungus. Does anyone have any experience with these lenses. Thanks! Advertisement Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Hi mihkels, Take a look here Opinions on 1st Gen 35mm f2 Summicron-R lens.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dkCambridgeshire Posted June 5, 2019 Share #2  Posted June 5, 2019 Both good lenses capable of excellent results. If you need more information about the lenses including, e.g.. MTF charts, please consider acquiring a copy of the Leica Pocket Book 8th Edition … over 300 pages documenting all Leica lenses designed and manufactured during period 1920 - c.2011.  https://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/books/12955-leica-pocket-book-8th-edition-2018-reprint.html You might also consider using both lenses on a suitable test target e.g. a building by mounting the camera / lens on a tripod and exposing the same image throughout the lenses' aperture ranges … and in various lighting conditions. And use slide film for the experiment … WYSIWYG  dunk
