New to M10-P

About 6 weeks ago I bought an M10-P and I am delighted with it. I had tried out the M10 in 2017 while in Brussels and it didn't persuade me to upgrade. Better ISO capability than my M240-P but not much else. Late in 2018 I tried the M10-P and it was love at first click of the shutter. So quiet it made my 240-P seem like a steam engine compared to a TGV. 

Someone fairly local had an M10-P for sale. We did a deal and now I am a proud owner of the best digital camera.

Comments: It is all very straightforward although the menu structure is different. It is different from the wonderful 'Western Logic' of the M240 because extra layers have been introduced. Once into the Main Menu it is plain sailing.

The RF viewfinder required a new dioptre for my eyesight and I haven't noticed easier focussing on close objects. Maybe the larger viewfinder is no big deal? Weight is about the same, handling is slightly easier as the body is slimmer by a small amount.

ISO at higher levels is acceptable which was definitely a problem for the M240. The shutter is incredibly quiet. I was taking shots of lambs last weekend and even they couldn't hear it.

In summary: If you take photos in a noisy urban environment, and most shots are taken at ISO1600 or lower, then the M240 or M240-P is better value for money. If you want peace and quiet and to be able to be unobtrusive and occasionally shoot in dark conditions then the M10-P is a beautiful camera.

I had the M240 and moved to the M10. I find the VF the nicest improvement... bigger opening, higher magnification and better eye relief (eyeglass user).  The slimmer body, better weather sealing and video deletion are bonuses.  The files are also better out of camera, but this is easily tweaked in PP for any M.  I like the shutter sound, but battery life is not quite as good.

Good to have choices; whatever works best.  Leica has been good to M users (although there are still the naysayers)... no perfect camera.

The M10 battery is definitely smaller that the M240 and will need charging more often, however it does save some weight ... unless you have to care a spare.
