fredus Posted April 12, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 12, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to https://www.macfilos.com/2019/04/11/leica-q2-the-bad-bits/ there is no center focus lock on the Q2 ... Huh? Is it the same on the original Q? I shoot 100% focus/recompose even with my auto-focus camera so I'm kinda concerned to change my workflow with my upcoming Q2. Anyone can share some information on this? Thanks
Advertisement Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Hi fredus, Take a look here No center focus lock on the Q2?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
nicci78 Posted April 12, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 12, 2019 Nice review. I really agree with everything, except that Leica should make nice video. I do not want to haul another camera to make small clips. It is crazy. Please bring back the video button. And just add another menu entry in AF mode with center AF point. That is so easy to do. Really.
Colourise Posted April 12, 2019 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2019 I have tried the Q2 in a Leica store here in the UK and would confirm the following:- The centre focus area (either spot or field per the manual) can be set to the centre of the frame but cannot be permanently locked in the centre position. So if the 4 way controller was inadvertently pressed then the focus area will move. There does not appear to be a locking setting in the menus
Macberg Posted April 12, 2019 Share #4 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Just double-tap the rear screen (anywhere) and the focus area is right in the centre, just in case you accidently (or deliberatley) moved it somewhere else. Takes less than half a second. Works exactly like with the Q1. Edited April 12, 2019 by Macberg 2
Colourise Posted April 12, 2019 Share #5 Posted April 12, 2019 @Macberg Thanks for mentioning that. No one in the store seemed to be aware of that shortcut.
fredus Posted April 12, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted April 12, 2019 Is there a way to disable the touchscreen on the Q/Q2? That's usually the first thing I do with all the camera I buy these days I just don't like touch screen for a camera ...
Macberg Posted April 13, 2019 Share #7 Posted April 13, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) @fredus I don't think so, but it has never caused any disturbances for my work. I have also always used the four-directions pad and the buttons only (apart from recentering the focus-point 😉) and never accidentally changed any settings by touching the screen. And I don't know if there is another quick possibility to put the small focus area exactly to the middle. If you really can't work with that touch screen activated, I'd write an Email to Leica Support or walk into the next Leica Store (if there is one near you).
