RMT52 Posted April 11, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 11, 2019 (edited) I have a state farm personal articles policy on my drone and cameras, one of which was the Q that i have now swapped out with the Q2. it covers theft/loss/accidental damage worldwide. price is very reasonable. that being said, i've never made a claim. https://www.statefarm.com/insurance/home-and-property/personal-articles-policy Edited April 11, 2019 by RMT52
Jeff S Posted April 11, 2019 Share #3 Posted April 11, 2019 I’ve added an itemized rider to my premium home policies since the 70’s to cover all my camera gear (as well as vintage print and book collections). It essentially covers all circumstances worldwide, no deductible, with quite reasonable premiums. But policies can vary greatly by location, by company, by policy and by individual circumstances and history. Chubb and AIG have served well for me. nariza7 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted April 12, 2019 what is a reasonable monthly price for such insurance? I see traverseinsurance for about $5 a month, but I have no idea what reviews that has gotten. Just trying to gauge whats a decent rate
Jeff S Posted April 12, 2019 Share #5 Posted April 12, 2019 $5 a month to cover full replacement value if you have, say, $20,000 worth of camera gear stolen, or accidentally drop it off a cliff? Good luck. Something on the order of 1-1.5% of insured value annually (from a trustworthy top notch company) seems reasonable to me. Again, there are many variables that make generalizations difficult. Jeff

My state farm policy for the Q2/accessories and Phantom 4 drone comes out to just under 10 dollars a month.
Jeff S Posted April 12, 2019 Share #7 Posted April 12, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Read carefully. My percentage quote can be applied to any amount of insured gear, not just your Q2, which clearly doesn’t meet my $20k example (in which case 60 bucks a year would warrant suspicion, not just good luck.)
