ron777 Posted April 8, 2019 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been experimenting with my new S1R and have come across a function that I cannot seem to activate. The shutter does not seem to activate AF (Leica 24-90mm Vario-Elmar). I've tried every setting that I can find that relates to AF and the shutter, and I've even performed a reset after saving settings, but no go. The camera focuses accurately with AF/AE button, but that's it. Although I prefer to use AF/AE button, as in back button focus, I am concerned that shutter focus does not seem to operate unless I missed a setting somewhere. Anyone else come across this issue? PROBLEM SOLVED: dummy operator error. I had the camera set for manual focus so I could fine tune same. Switching to "S" made the difference. I will leave it in manual now that I now the shutter function works. Sorry for the unnecessary post. Edited April 8, 2019 by ron777

thighslapper Posted April 8, 2019 Share #2 Posted April 8, 2019 We all do this with new cameras ..... there is a tendency to try every possible combination and function ...... and it won't be the last time I will find myself in an exasperating situation where 'the damn thing doesn't work properly !' ..... only to solve it with a complete system reset and still be completely at a loss as to what obscure menu option I had invoked in error .... ron777 Posted April 8, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted April 8, 2019 Thank you for your kind and consoling words. The camera is amazing and amazingly complex, but I'm quickly becoming accustomed.
