Has anyone noticed whether the Q2 has a tendency to default to using a wide open (f1.7) aperture value when the camera is used in full auto mode?

My wife will occasionally borrow my Q-P when she travels on business and I noticed that most if not all of the photos are being shot at f1.7 even in bright outdoors sunlight. The issue is that for landscape photography the depth of field is very shallow. So for example her recent outdoors photos show exposure settings of ISO 100, shutter speed 1/1000 & f1.7.

She is not technically inclined and doesn't want to bother having to adjust the aperture value when she takes photos.

Is this programming carried over to the Q2?

That was my thought, but I also tried it and got the same results. In other words, I ruled out user error insofar as the aperture ring was definitely on A. (Full auto setting). I think it's a "programming decision" by the Leica folks. As I am thinking about getting a Q2 (primarily for weather sealing) I'd be curious to know if anyone with a Q2 can confirm/deny.

I agree aperture priority mode is a good solution and one which I use for general outdoors travel photography. But for the neophytes who just want to point and shoot in full auto mode I wonder if this artifact is still carried over in the Q2?

I am unfamiliar with Program shift and will look into it. Thanks for the recommendation.
