Marty2 Posted March 18, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have ordered a Q2 from Leica Australia and I am patiently waiting. I find this forum useful to not only better understand this particular camera but it helps to make the wait more worthwhile. I am very much an amateur photographer (previous Cannon user) and will be a first time Leica camera owner. But I am accustomed to Leica quality and optics in its geosystems products. I also ordered a Leica brown leather strap with my Q2 but then decided to swap to a holster to start with and get the strap later. I thought a $7700 AUD camera would be best in holster strapped to my chest, than hanging around my neck, or at least initially. Does anyone have any comments, good, bad or indifferent, about the Leica holster?

TrickyMrT Posted March 19, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 19, 2019 I have the Leica holster for my M10, which is, in my opinion, a must-have. Because the holster for M10 is not compatible with Q2 in will buy a second one.
Jayk Posted March 22, 2019 Share #3 Posted March 22, 2019 I have a Q with a thumbs up, handgrip and loop. I really like the holster but don't think it provides a single solution. I have both a holster and a small Billingham 72 bag. The Billingham provides much greater weather and knock protection than the holster and it is quick to remove the Q from the bag and replace it. It is even quicker to remove and replace the Q using the holster but it offers much less protection. I find both systems very comfortable and tend to use the holster on good weather days when wearing light clothing. I don't think it works well when wearing a jacket - either under or over it but it probably depends on the jacket. The Billingham 72 is used on all other occasions which means it gets the most use. The weather proofing of the Q2 is likely to increase the occasions when it can be used with the holster. Hope that helps.
Marty2 Posted March 22, 2019 Author Share #4 Posted March 22, 2019 Thanks for that Jayk. I can appreciate your experience with both.
tnturnerx1 Posted March 22, 2019 Share #5 Posted March 22, 2019 I looked up the Billingham 72 bag JayK mentioned, and it looks very serviceable. I will probably order it and check it out.
Jayk Posted March 22, 2019 Share #6 Posted March 22, 2019 The Billingham is excellent if you like to travel light, e.g. camera, spare batteries and SD cards. It's also discrete. If I had to choose between the holster and the Billingham 72 it would have to be the Billingham. But it's great having both. 😀
rfunnell Posted March 30, 2019 Share #7 Posted March 30, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a holster with my previous Leica Q and didn't use it. I always found I felt a bit odd walking around with it on. Just my .
