jwillyf Posted March 17, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) After uploading some images from my Q to my Windows PC, I inadvertently left the camera attached by USB cable to the PC in the on S position of the power switch. The battery had two bars of capacity left. I worked on the images for a couple of hours and having found the camera still to be attached, I removed it. I did not notice whether the screen was still displaying the Data Mass Storage message, but the camera would not then switch on because of a flat battery. Replacing it with a second charged battery had it working fine. Presumably while switched on and connected to a PC, the battery is steadily discharging? Advertisement Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Hi jwillyf, Take a look here The Q battery discharges while connected to a PC?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ramarren Posted March 17, 2019 Share #2 Posted March 17, 2019 Most likely yes. Unless the Q has in-camera USB charging, there's no way for a USB connection to power it.
jwillyf Posted March 17, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted March 17, 2019 (edited) No. It's not possible to charge the Q in camera. I presume when the camera is connected to the PC, it bypasses the camera software including the automatic power down after an interval of non-use. LexS Posted March 18, 2019 Share #4 Posted March 18, 2019 (edited) USB is 5V and that is not enough: the charger gives >7.4 Volt. It is not possible to charge the battery when connected to usb. The charged battery is approx 7.4/7.5V Edited March 18, 2019 by LexS
