Hi,

i have an m10 + 50mm APO and 35 LUX fle. So far I´m almost happy, but in some critical situations like fast moving kids, I need something which works automatically.

Because I do not like to have too much environment I´m thinking about selling the M10 and just go with the Q2.

What do you think, is this a good idea?

Should I just sell the 35mm and keep the rest and go with M10 and Q2?

Does anyone of you switched fully from M to Q?

If you stop down the 35 Lux a bit and use zone focusing, then you'll be able to shoot your kids faster than with any auto focus. 😉

But if you want to shoot your fast moving kids wide open, then a Q2 might be a good idea. And if you don't miss the rangefinder experience, I am sure the Q2 can fully replace your M10.

Seems a lot of duplication if you just use 35 and 50mm, which the Q can now handle very nicely with more pixels.

I imagine if you got a Q2 you may well end up selling the M10 and lenses and having a bloody good holiday/photo trip with the difference.

For info I used to have an M10 and 24 1.4, 50 1.4 and 90 2.0. I now have a QP and CL with 23, 18-56 and 55-135. The QP gives me the fast wide I don’t have with the CL.

I´m afraid of finding out that the Q2 beats the M10 in almost all situation and I finally gave it up to shoot my M10.

I know zone focusing, but it is no option when you have less available light. For example, if you try to shoot moving kids in the evening indoors.

In sunny situations, it is of course great.

Q would be perfect to shoot moving kids indoors (smaller space so get closer to kids with wide angle lens is natural). Outside I would prefer to have much longer lens (for that type of shooting which also includes kids sports my all time favorite is Canon 70-200L 2.8).

For me, the Q2 wouldn't replace my M10 because I much prefer its OVF to an EVF.

On the other hand, I also like shooting with Live View, one handed: establishing the roughly where the edges of the frame are while holding the camera in the right hand and looking at the LCD — and looking directly at the subject when pressing the shutter. For that type of shooting,  my preference would be the new (tiny and light) Ricoh GRIII — having had good experience with the earlier small-sensor Ricoh GRDIV.
