Samir Jahjah Posted July 21, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received 2 LT-M8 adapters from John Milich. My plan was to use it with my 12mm and 15mm VG. I had been using both lenses on my M6s and M8 with adapters sold by Cameraquest. To my surprise (and disapointment), the 15mm would not adjust well when I use the LT-M8: the black dot on the meter would be significantly off. In addition, after coding the adapter as a WATE, and setting lens detection to "on" nothing is happening. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried both LT-M8, and none would make the 15mm well aligned. Help and advice would be appreciated before I have to return the LT-M8. Samir

stunsworth Posted July 21, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2007 Did you get 28mm adaptors? I believe this is required for the lend to be correctly identified as a wide angle Tri-Elmar.

I got the one recommended for the 12, and 15mm, which is the LT-M8 9cm.

Samir Jahjah Posted July 21, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted July 21, 2007 Thanks! Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful to make it work...I used Nail color, and not white enamel, so this might be the reason. What kind of painting would work as well? psquared Posted July 21, 2007 Share #7 Posted July 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Nail polish should work fine. Specific colors that worked are mentioned in the thread I pointed you to. I used Wet'nWild Wild Shine French White Creme (449C) and Black Creme (424A) nail polish. Make sure you haven't reversed the order of the dots. What lens info are you getting in EXIF? Make sure you turn the lens to hear the click when you mount the lens, and make sure all the the adapter is free of dried paint/nail polish outside the wells. Posting a picture of the adapter as you have it now may help.
London Lad Posted July 21, 2007 Share #8 Posted July 21, 2007 You will need to set the lens detection to "on + IR" to see the WATE menu.
gesper Posted July 21, 2007 Share #9 Posted July 21, 2007 I used Wet n Wild also and only did the black dots. Coded a 15 and a 25 and it worked the first time I turned the camera on.
DaveEP Posted July 21, 2007 Share #10 Posted July 21, 2007 I also have the same problem - my adapter coding is not seen on either of my two bodies
London Lad Posted July 21, 2007 Share #11 Posted July 21, 2007 I also have the same problem - my adapter coding is not seen on either of my two bodies Do you have the lens detection menu item set to "on + IR" ?
Samir Jahjah Posted July 21, 2007 Author Share #12 Posted July 21, 2007 Do you have the lens detection menu item set to "on + IR" ? Why would the menu pop up only when the lens detection is set to On + IR only. Does it imply that the correction for vignetting is the same for the three focals, and that only the cyan correction differs for each focal? Well I will try this when I get back home. stunsworth Posted July 21, 2007 Share #13 Posted July 21, 2007 No, it's implying that the correction for the cyan drift that occurs with a filter is different for the three focal lengths. Vignetting correction is a bonus <grin> I can confirm that you need the setting mentioned to get the prompt for focal length.
Jlondon53 Posted July 22, 2007 Share #14 Posted July 22, 2007 You will need to set the lens detection to "on + IR" to see the WATE menu. I don't remember seeing a "+IR" setting in my manual and I sure can't find it in my cameras menu. My lens detection says "ON" or "OFF" and that's it. So I'm obviously mis-interpreting the comment. Can someone please elaborate without making me feel too awfully stupid? Thanks

Thanks, How old is the current firmware update 1.102? I've been reading rumours of a new update July 27th. Unless it came out early, I think I'll wait until then to change anything. It's a little scary though. I read about all the problems people are having with their cameras and mine's working great. I wonder if firmware updates have anything to do with their problems? I'm currently using 1.
stunsworth Posted July 22, 2007 Share #17 Posted July 22, 2007 If everyone who hadn't had a problem posted a message to say so, you'd wonder why anyone complained - which isn't to say that some people haven't had problems, but the power of the internet means that in general you only hear from people who have issues. The current firmware was released months ago.

Guest guy_mancuso Posted July 22, 2007 Share #19 Posted July 22, 2007 You have to have 1.102 or it will not work.
stunsworth Posted July 22, 2007 Share #20 Posted July 22, 2007 Glad to hear that you got it working Samir. I had to try a couple of marker pens before I found one that worked.
