Hello. I took delivery of new Leica S E last week and I am getting on very well. It is my first DSLR. I have been a M user for many years. I would like to get a filter system for the S E. This is all a new to me. I am leaning towards the Lee system. I would be interested to read any thoughts and advice members may have on this subject. Thanks.

Mike.

Thanks John. At the moment I only have the Summarit 70 which is 82 MM.

Not quite yet sure what my next one will be. Possibly longer. Will plough my way through the thread Jeff had put me on to and see what has been said re different systems etc.

It is all a bit new to me at the moment, but I love the camera.

Mike.

I use Lee because I started with it while using film. It works fine. I have no experience with others with the S.

I use 24, 30, 70, 120 and 180. Furthermore I only use filters when absolutely necessary, for example long exposures. Most of my digital work is without filters. With film I use K25 the most.

For the 24 I use the Lee 100mm filter adapter. It is a push-on adapter. I use silicone on the inside ring to make it snug on the lens.

Vieri wrote an article about a specific 100mm Lee filter holder for the 24mm. Works acceptably well. Apart from this I have a Haida Pro 100mm filter holder and some Haida filters. I like it, but then I do not use it very often.

The Lee Holder with Formatt Hitech Filters are my choice.   The Lee filters are plastic, they're good, the Formatt filters are made in glass and I find them superior, the grad nd are more neutral.  100mm holder is fine, except for the 24mm where it is fine with one filter only.
