1.5 viewfinder magnifyer

0.72 is fine enough to focus a Noct' (from '66, 30 years before 0.85 or the mag. came out) at 1m, confirmed by Putz (sp?).

I don't check internet reviews for what will give me accurate focus. I use my eyes as that's what I've got to work with. As everyone's vision is different, different photographers will have different requirements.

On the M8 for 35 and longer I prefer the 1.25 magnifier as it gives me better results. If you don't need it, good for you. 25 years ago I didn't need it. The viewfinder without the magnifier is a little brighter and I would prefer not to have to use it but as long as only .68 is offered on the M8 it's the only option for those that need it.

The megaperls 1.35 mag is a good altenative to the Leica mag, set it to your eyes and fix

the diopter with tape. But for buying it you need a friend outside Germany or the US to act as shipping address.

It's not possible that it's brighter with the mag.

I said "The viewfinder without the magnifier is a little brighter ". Like eyeglasses people would prefer not to wear them. But if you need them, you need them.

Ok, so I am in the US, as are a lot of us. I am also an old guy, as are a lot of us, and I want one of these almost illegal magnifiers. I am not an extreme wide shooter. Lenses from 28 up are the ones I use most. How then do I get one of these magic magnifiers. If the maker does not ship to the US, or Germany, for some reason then what? I would like to know if there is another way to get one short of going to another country. Gee whiz, an excuse for a trip to .....Thailand sounds like fun and there is lots of stuff for sale there you do not find anywhere else. Great looking watches and my, they are cheap.

Grows late here and the day has been long and hot. May have affected my powers of reason. Does not take much any more. Maybe I will be able to figure it out on my own. John

from what i understand, it's only a violation to buy it to use on a Leica. As they state in their ad, there are other purposes that it can be used for.. telescopes, binoculars, other optical instruments... If want one for those purposes, you need to state so when you buy it
