vic vic Posted July 22, 2007 Author Share #21 Posted July 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) ed and arthrur........ thanks first of all for your words...... arthur.... of course i know the place of digital photography..... i dont know what are georgraphic differances between us, but probably we live in the same kind of proggressive concumer society (for everything it implies)...... sometimes, i am very vulgar indeed, lets say, i make my statements in very theatric way, but under those rhetoric statements and fun, there is analyzes too....... i am not against progress at all.... in any field (science, social life, commercial etc etc)............ there is no doubt that digital photography has its place whether in proffesional convincince or as part of wider spectrum of digital communication..... i dont even doubt it, its possitive part in our life etc....... but there are several problems that i outline under my "rants" here and there, or statements on my web-pages........... and no, digital photographers are not bad-art or bad-phto automatically just because it is digital, and just the same with film - film photography doesnt make automatically art or good and enjoyable photos... etc...... hahah, and no, im not "suffering artist" and do not advoctae it ... ) when i say "masses of sheeps" i mean to the lies and to the misleading agitations dull and one dimensional information that people blindly follow and repeat it and even think that they are super knowledgable because they talk like that..... and even worse.. repeating slogans and thinking that it is "one's own humble opinioin IMHO"....... of course we can desagree about many issues..... i dont see any problem in it ) we do not live in ideal world, and we are not perfect creatures, so different opinion are very natural to me........ it is the "mass demogogy under the illusion of IMHO" that i dont like....... but diversity, contraversality, different opinions are most welcomed and productive to all the parties in discussion about 00101010100101 ..... i understand light "interpreation and articulation" as "substance"....... it is not only epistemo-ontological view.... it is mainly the true-vivid impression when i see a good film photo (especially fine printed in darkoom)..... it radiates light...... u dont only see the grapphical-visual aspects of "light"...... on film - it simply goes further.... the light gets some substance and so the objects that reflect it ... it is hard to explain verbaly, but it is there - big-time there....... graphically - of course leaf camera (medium digi) gives amazing quality and gives such a big room for further interpretation in post-processing, and the "light" will look great with it.... m8 is cool too if the colour problems are managed or ignored........ but man..... no, it is not like the film , and no way to show it on internet of course )) the film transcends the impresional qualities of real light (as observed in reality) onto the photographic medium with great substance (recreating the impression on materialistic level)...... well there are many other differances but i was responding to u about 01010010101 ))

tomasis7 Posted July 22, 2007 Share #24 Posted July 22, 2007 generally your photography is pretty good but if i have to go tough at criticizing, this expression is not enough, somewhat lacking a bit compared to 6:th and last images at your linked page which I actually like much more maybe thanks to good composition and light. Other expressions look just fake, just posing. I know that it could require more engagement and rolls But you know that I like your photos because you're on different level comparing with guys here who look only if it is technically SHARPY ..holy SHARPNESS.oh my good. continue to experiment, dude .. it'd be interesting to see differences with scanned prints and actual scans. hofrench Posted July 23, 2007 Share #25 Posted July 23, 2007 I spent an hour looking at your site the other night. The time just got away from me completely, because I was so absorbed. Very strong work, some of it indeed "great". What's best has nothing to do with the technical debates swirling around, but rather, the sense of personality that pervades the entire body. Try as they may, most shooters never achieve that.
ron110n Posted July 23, 2007 Share #26 Posted July 23, 2007 Hi Vic, Originally I always wanted a Hasselblad 503CW till I stumbled upon this babes at a price less than a used summicron 35 asph at eBay. It was really a steal for a studio kept, mint like new Rollei 6008i pro with Heliopan Bay VI filters, Bay VI to 67mm adapter, and complete original boxes, manuals, Rollei 6000 / SLX Book and a Tamrac pro camera back pack... "all in one package". After it arrived, I thought it to be simillar to the Hassy 500 series... no it was Rollei's entry to compete with the Hassy H series. All motorized, shutter priority, aperture priority, or full auto. It is not a quiet beast. It roars like a lion each time I press the shutter. What amazed me is the buffered mirror in combination with the organomic handle and neck strap. Once they work together, it barely move at 1/30th of a sec. The lens is a Zeiss 80mm HFT PQ. The engineering is very impressive but here's the draw back... it is fully electronic, also accessories "are priced like a Leica". I love this digital frenzy that makes me afford these film equiptment I can't afford before. Stick around Vic cause the Schneider / Horseman 4x5 will be next. -Ron
vic vic Posted July 23, 2007 Author Share #27 Posted July 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) hi ron.... ah man.. so u already have the rollei 6000 - congrats.... ya it seems great with this digi age, those great cameras become suddenly accasible , although the new models of those still cost carzy money as never before..... the orgonomic hendle - u mean the grip? ya it is amazing grip - makes the whole system work so comfortably. i also not a bog fun of this motor in it. wouldnot mind if there was no motor. but they putted it in very elegent way (unlike hasselblad 500 that needs bulky adds). im not femilar with horseman, but if u come across linhofs for example feel free to ask....
