dhsimmonds Posted July 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was in the middle of a shoot recently when none of the three shutter buttons would do anything! I thought that the shutter "felt" a bit sticky on the previous shot but as I was shooting a silver band at full belt and very close up, I couldn't really hear the shutter fire! Now, I havn't looked at the manuals for R9 or DMR except to take the back off for sensor cleaning for over a year. Both camera and back are so instinctive to use I just have never felt the need. Something nagged at me about not using either the R9 lever or press the adjacent little silver button, when using the DMR back. I tried again, the shutter appeared to be jammed, none of the shutter releases worked. So, I DID wind on with the lever wind and hey presto! Yep all three release buttons were activated and have stayed activated! I have since read in the manual that it is quite OK to use the lever wind as an alternative to the "motor wind" buttons (and it is silky quiet!) I can only assume that in taking my camera out of it's Tamrac DSLR holster bag, that the lever wind partially engaged or something and temporarily disabled the usual motor wind system. Anyway, problem quickly solved and repeated here if it should happen to you!!

cmb_ Posted July 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2007 Yes, this is a nice feature for quiet operation and it also saves battery power!
