boilerdoc Posted July 17, 2007 Share #25 Posted July 17, 2007 Guy, as an MD I've seen miracles happen with the new med called 'Chantix'. All you have to do is swallow the med each day. In a week or so you've lost all interest in cigarettes! It is truly amazing. No withdrawal and the kids don't have to leave home. Steve
Guest guy_mancuso Posted July 17, 2007 Share #26 Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks Stephen exactly what i needed to hear, maybe move that time frame up now. The last time i quit i was so bad my wife stuck a cig in my mouth and said smoke 5 more of these and calm down. I went from the high dose patch to the low dose and i bugged out. And Wellbutrin i had such bad nightmares from it. Thanks everyone just looking for the miracle. This new stuff sounds pretty good.
Doon Posted July 17, 2007 Share #27 Posted July 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My first post and its about SMOKING!! My trick after a forty year habit: 1. Convinced myself my mind and lungs would be clear. 2. Used the patches. 3. Used the gum as well for the first week. (this is against recommendation on products) 4. Used gum when craving. 5. Gum tapered off, finished patches couse, now four months smoke free. Will ALWAYS have the occasional ( daily) craving but it really just lasts 45 seconds. sean_reid Posted July 17, 2007 Share #29 Posted July 17, 2007 Sean, that is the Stones! Mother's Little Helper? Oy Vey!! You're right. I'm losing it. I'm currently prepping a wedding for a client, working on two different articles and coordinating details for three upcoming motorcycle tours (suddenly all these people want to go to Nova Scotia two weeks before the tour starts). My brain is not up to the tasks, clearly. So much for my wit and wisdom. At least I don't smoke. <G> Cheers, Sean

sean_reid Posted July 17, 2007 Share #31 Posted July 17, 2007 Don't start now I know what you mean. If I were a smoker I'd probably be burning through them this time of year. I never started - lucky. BTW, if anyone has questions about the "Intro to RF" article, feel free to ask. Popping into the forum is what's passing for a break while the files are batching.
