I notice that the meter pattern indicator in my 'new to me' R6.2 (the little LED that indicates whether you're on spot or average mode) flashes whenever the meter is powered up. The meter reads fine (first roll through the camera shows absolutely spot on metering!) and works otherwise as described in the manual, but the mode indicator persistently flashes.

I can't recall whether it did that when I first got the camera...

Is this normal behavior or there a fault developing?

I read somewhere that this happens if you have set a manual override (that is, a positive or negative compensation on the metering system for atypically bright or dark subjects, e.g. snow scenes). Have you done this inadvertantly?

Thanks! That was it, I'd bumped the EC override to +0.3 accidentally and didn't think to look at the setting dial. Doh! 🙄

I thought the roll of film I developed yesterday looked a tiny bit denser than expected. First roll, so that's good information from which to understand the metering calibration. :D

I realize this is a dead thread but the same thing was happening on my R6. The metering mode LED would stop blinking only when I had exposure compensation set on +1/3 stop for some reason. I twiddled the exposure compensation dial from min to max a few times and also did the same with the ISO dial. Now the meter mode LED is solid at zero exposure compensation, phew! 😅 Not touching that dial ever again!
