betso Posted October 3, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) After couple of decades playing with Nikon, I decided to move to a lightweight system. Selling all my Nikon gear makes it possible to get a used Leica M camera with a used lens. Hello to all of you! I am looking forward to learning a lot here. And I am saying "Thank you" in advance! Robert M Poole Posted October 3, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2018 Welcome! I'm sure you'll love the Leica M system as I do but don't bank on it being "lightweight"! All that brass 'n' glass can be quite heavy
betso Posted October 3, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted October 3, 2018 Thank you, Robert! I got the chance to hold a Typ 242 with a 50mm Summarit 2.4 in the hand. It is indeed heavier than I expected but it is nowhere near my D800 with any of the lenses I had. Size does matter as well. In this particular case at least.
Robert M Poole Posted October 3, 2018 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2018 The main benefit for me of owning an m (M9) was it made me simplify. One body, one lens (50mm)
betso Posted October 3, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted October 3, 2018 I completely agree. This is part of the going-lightweight goal.

betso Posted October 4, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted October 4, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Haha! ) I was using mostly 50 mm and 85 mm lenses on my Nikon. I'm going for 50 only for now.
