Or the opposite might happen. I have noticed with the Zeiss ZM lenses that their prices provide a solid lower bound for used M lens prices. Specifically, what I found was that the cheapest M 18/3.8 was priced slightly above the price of a new ZM 18/4.0. The same thing happens with other used-M vs. new-ZM price comparisons. It's counter-intuitive, but competition has kept Leica prices high and stable.
