It seems you plan on shooting primarily with the EVF.

In that case the Leica SL is a better camera than either the M10 or M240.

I'd say 50% of the time. However, I use to get specific angles more comfortably, so the SL would not help, unless there is an external EVF I can use for lower angles

Yea, I disagree that you'd be better off with the SL. You'd be better off with a Sony or Fuji - that would help your budget concern as well.

I have easily adapted economical  right angle finders to many different camera viewfinders and in one case an LCD screen. Google & be happy.

As a vocal critic of the M10 battery life when it first came out I no longer feel that way. In my first impressions review from January 2017 I bitterly complained about the 300 or so images I first got from the M10 vs the 1000 images I got from the M240. On average I now get 500 images per charge (no LV, no EVF, review is off, DNG only) and the battery usually lasts all day. I never turn off the camera and let it fall asleep after 2 minutes of inactivity. Rarely do I carry a second battery, unless I know I will extensively use the camera all day. For me the M10 battery issue went from a critical issue to a non-issue. And a smaller battery means a lighter camera.

That’s pretty much how I have set up my camera too!

The way some people wailed about the size/weight of the M240, you'd have thought they were carrying a Mamiya RZ67 Pro II and a half dozen lenses for it.   Leica listened and made the M10 smaller and lighter, at the price of battery longevity.  Be careful what you wish for, as the old axiom goes.

I am accustomed to the size/weight of the M-P 240 and it is not an issue to me.  I like the fact that when I start with a 100% charged battery, i can fill a 32 GB SD card (close to 1100 images) without needing to change batteries.

I am getting an M10-P as soon as I can for the upgrades it offers compared to the M-P 240.  I will keep my M-P 240 for a backup M camera, though.

YMMV.

While the M10 battery is smaller it’s not half the size/capacity of the M240 battery, so why does it capture only half as many images? I’ve long suspected that the M10 consumes much more power than the M240, especially at stand-by (you can shoot 1000 frames on the M10 if all are taken within one hour). I further suspect that later firmwares did improve power consumption because I get more frames now than I did last year. There is, however, still room for improvement.

I’m sure you’ll love your M10-P as I do. It’s a big improvement over the M240, especially the viewfinder. When I pick up my M240-P it feels a little clunky until I get used to it again.
