sps Posted July 14, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just received a new B&W 486 Slimline and noticed that there are no visible threads on the side where the glass retaining ring sits. I therefore cannot use it with my JM adapter for the CV12. The retaining ring does have two notches, but I have been unable to make them budge. I was thinking of removing the retaining ring and screwing the adapter right into its place. Sorry if this has been covered. Maybe we need a sticky for JM accessories? Advertisement Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Hi sps, Take a look here Please help with B&W Filter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gwelland Posted July 14, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2007 The secret to removing lens/filter rings is constant pressure around the ring. I bought the Lens Ring Remover Set to unscrew and re-screw the filter assembly for the WATE adapter using a B+W filter. With the correct tool it is really, really easy! The alternative would be to use a Spanner Wrench since you mention that the filter has notches. If you don't want to do it yourself then any self-respecting camera repair shop can remove the ring easily.
