I can only go from what I read as I’m no legal expert. That’s why we have forum rules so we keep on the right side of the line. You can search up fair use exception. This reference from Stanford even refers to use for criticism etc. which is what we do a lot of on this forum. https://fairuse.stanford.edu/overview/fair-use/what-is-fair-use/

Rather the Copyright Act contains a chapter including several specific provisions limiting the scope of rights for the copyright owner with respect to lawfully permitted uses. For instance, such lawfully permitted uses refer to collections for religious use, newspaper articles and broadcast commentaries and, most importantly, the reproduction for private and other personal uses.” https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=5a9f6b59-1014-4d39-a4f0-7f83bb4428f9 I can see how the internet spmetimes makes things more complicated. I love my steel rim If I were Leica I’d scrap the Summaron remake (which tbh it’s not a rare lens or that unique at all rendering wise) and instead would make a steel rim remake. I didn’t think any Leica lens could dethrone the summicron 8 elements for me, but the steel rim did it (and I sold my 8e to keep the steel rim instead). It’s currently being CLA’d to replace the grease but once it’s back I’ll share more photos.
adan Posted February 3, 2021 Share #252 Posted February 3, 2021 I keep wondering whether, if I sent my 35 Nokton II back to Cosina with a big enough cheque, they would strip off the chrome rim and simply anodize it black to match the rest of the lens. Seems rather an affectation.

pgk Posted February 3, 2021 Share #254 Posted February 3, 2021 14 hours ago, mmradman said: The steel rim, being mentioned a lot lately, must be magic optical ingredient contributing to lens performance. In this case the 'magic' is in fact due to physics and is due to the induced electrolytic voltage caused between the dissimilar metals used in the front of this lens. This in turn creates a small magnetic field around the front of the lens which then causes minor deviations in the path of the electromagnet radiation (the visible portion of which we refer to as light) as it enters the lens. This is what gives the images their 'specialness' when viewed by the cognoscenti. As ever there is always a logical, technical explanation. [Or did I just make this up .....?😇]. 4

(Let's make it 10,001 ) Actually, I use a black 43-46 step-up ring. Which allows me to use a solid (all-black) Leica E46 clip-on cap instead of the flimsy Voigtlander cap.
