albert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted August 21, 2018 Comments please. I just pre-ordered one but you men and women could still stop me.
Marac Posted August 21, 2018 Share #3 Posted August 21, 2018 I wouldn't want to stop you at all but I have just discovered the older Elpro series for R lenses and with the appropriate ring can be used on the TL lenses. So far I have the Elpro 3 and a 55>52 ring, I'm waiting on a 60>55 so I can use it with my 55-135 and 35 Lux. I'm not sure what major difference there is with the new version apart from the obvious 52mm and price.
albert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted August 21, 2018 SKU: 799429141257 Mfg Code: 14125 $395 Coming Soon - Pre-Order Now Leica Camera expands its portfolio of accessories with the introduction of the Leica ELPRO 52, a closeup lens attachment that extends the capabilities of Leica M and TL-lenses for macro photography. The compact and lightweight Leica ELPRO 52 is easily transported, quick to set up and easy to use on any compatible lens. The ELPRO 52 expands the photographer’s capabilities and gets the photographer closer to the subjects by greatly reducing focusing distance. This allows for maximum magnifications as high as 1:1, depending on the lens it is paired with. ELPRO 52 expands the photographer’s capabilities and gets the photographer closer to the subjects by greatly reducing focusing distance. Its optical construction comprises of two cemented lens elements with anti-reflective multi-coating. This ensures images are crisp, sharp and practically free from chromatic aberrations. The ELPRO 52 makes it possible to capture impressively detailed, close-up images with a newfound level of depth using lenses you already own. The close-up lens will natively fit all 52 mm filter threads, and is supplied with two stepping ring adapters for 46 and 49mm sizes. This packaged combination of the native 52 mm size plus stepping rings allows the ELPRO 52 to be mounted on more than 20 different Leica M and TL-Lenses. The set comes packaged in a leather case. Other stepping rings can be purchased separately to adapt the ELPRO 52 to lenses smaller than 46mm, though they must be purchased from other suppliers and at the user’s discretion. 01af Posted August 21, 2018 Share #5 Posted August 21, 2018 ... but you men and women could still stop me. The Elpro E52's value and benefit depends on the lenses you're going to use it on.

johntobias Posted August 22, 2018 Share #8 Posted August 22, 2018 The older ELPRO lenses are fabulous value on the used market, often only $50 or less.
johntobias Posted August 22, 2018 Share #9 Posted August 22, 2018 I got an Elpro 3 55mm one mint for £39....that and a step ring and bobs your uncle !
01af Posted August 22, 2018 Share #10 Posted August 22, 2018 (edited) I only have the 18-56 CL kit-lens. That's good. For most M lenses, the Elpro E52 is too strong. But for the Vario-Elmar-TL 18-56 Asph it is just right. in fact I believe the Elpro E52 was designed specifically for this lens. Steve Ash Posted August 22, 2018 Share #11 Posted August 22, 2018 (edited) I think the design target was to reach a magnification of 1:1 within the range of Leica-M lenses. In this respect the design is just right. 01af Posted August 22, 2018 Share #12 Posted August 22, 2018 I think the design target was to reach a magnification of 1:1 within the range of Leica-M lenses. No, this was definitely not the primary design target.
Steve Ash Posted August 22, 2018 Share #13 Posted August 22, 2018 No, this was definitely not the primary design target. You might be right but why then is the design as it is ?
