I am thinking about trying to shoot the Flying Scotsman next weekend so am currently doing a recce along the line.

Summerseat looks like an ok place.

Anyone else got any tips? Or fancy joining me for a shoot and a flask of tea next Sunday?

I’d probably park in Ramsbottom. There’s a footbridge over the track there, though I expect it will be packet with people wearing anoraks and carrying flasks of tea. Not sure if I’ll be there, it depends on the weather.

You could combine it with a trip to Bolton food festival just down the road...

Lots of stalls etc., not just the headlining foodie celebs. Live music too.

What a great image. I am envious of your opportunity.

I like the way you chose a spot where the stone wall emphasises the composition as well.

The vignetting(?) is especially atmospheric.

I didn't know they had modified the FS to have an extra stack though. ;)

No. That Sunday the rain was incessant and frankly, I could think of better things to do than stand out in it all day on Ramsbottom station.

It was the Ramsbottom annual black pudding throwing competition yesterday - no I didn't go.
