Hi all,

So I’ve dropped my MP on the tile floor from 20 cm and that piece came of (as you see in the picture, it doesn’t cause any issue to the focusing or whatsoever)

Does anybody know what is it?

Cheers,

Fatih

Maybe this helps further:  Anatomy of the Leica M8 Framelines

" ... A plastic prism; it's not clear what this is for, possibly to provide even illumination of the framelines. ..."

Great! So this is that plastic prism which is not clear what is it for. So I hope now it stays there and don’t move anywhere to lock other parts until I send it to a service.

Thanks a lot guys.

Good Lord! - that piece has migrated about 3 cms, rotated 45°+, travelled around a corner, and slipped through at least one very small gap to get to that position.

About equivalent to finding the back seat of your car sitting on the dashboard after a collision.

That’s a great map and again it clarifies, it is not an important piece for focusing or shooting. So until I can get it fixed I can use the camera. One issue though, it also has a bad habit time to time to jam that round wheel close to lens mount and makes the lens impossible to focus below 1,5 meters. A little shake solves the problem. I’m just surprised why or how that piece has dislocated from the original position, I would think Leica is more solid :) Edited by fatihayoglu
