First time film development and a question

I get those all the time. Sometimes, I see a small area where the emulsion appears to be missing. It happens - film is a physical, and somewhat imperfect, medium.

Fortunately, if you are scanning your negatives, most post processing software has pretty good “healing” capabilities and you can make those go away.

It looks like drying spots on my BW film. I'm lazy and reusing PhotoFlo for months.

Detergent is not wetting agent. Come back if issue still exist after getting wetting agent.

This time I did use PhotoFlo with distilled water for last wash and no more spots!

 

I also pushed Tri-X to 800 for the first time and was so pleased with the results. My best ever. Having so much fun.

 

Leica M2, 40 Summicron-C, f/2.8, 1/60, Tri-X (pushed to 800), DD-X (1+4, 10min, 20C).

I can second that. I always use PhotoFlow but it was not enough, especially with TriX, to prevent chalk stains. Distilled water with Photoflow in the final rinse and it’s gone.

 

Btw, it doesn’t look that pushed when I look at the shadows.

This is the first time I have pushed and not sure what to expect. The grain and contrast is similar to (in my eyes) my previous roll shot at 400 and developed (by lab) at 400.

 

The cars in the museum had lights shining on them while surrounding areas were darker. I measured incident light falling on the cars.

 

Can you please explain the shadow comment.

When you push to 800 mostly the shadows are getting darker and less differentiated, especially of you did a general measure of incident light, the zones i to iv tend to become one dark cluster. Here, it seems, with a little dodging you can get differentiations in the lower part of the image. If you’d like to, that’s another thing.
