malcolm.mcintyre Posted July 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just bought the Kenko vernier ploarizer kit (Robert White's) for use on my M8. I understand rotating the viewer vernier to obtain the polarised effect and then matching the position on the lens filter, but what is the hand-held "checker" for? gerasdoc Posted July 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 10, 2007 I assumed the hand-held checker is for use when your flash shoe is unavailable. It works the same way.
Photoskeptic Posted July 10, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 10, 2007 Malcolm, I used a polarizer quite successfully on early digicams but never on a film camera. I had ordered the Kenko system for my M8 but then changed my mind after reading several posts here and seeing examples. Please let us know how it works out for you. regards, John
malcolm.mcintyre Posted July 11, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted July 11, 2007 I have used polarisers extensively on SLRs over the years, and have not found a way to get the same effect in Photohop. To be honest, difficulty with polarising filters is my only significant gripe with rangefinders. With my Mamiya 7II rangefinder, I simply bought a pair of circular polarising filters and put my own markings around the edges comparing the two filters by eye. Then used one filter as a "viewer" off the camera, matching the rotation on the camera filter.
