vic vic Posted August 6, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) shenkin street in tel-aviv. on friday, i just wanted to have some walk around. in haifa, it is not a good idea to go far from the safe places theses days. so my sister and her husbend and my siter friend joined me. after some busneses, i joined them for walk in "shenkin" and "nahalat binyamin". it is like oxford street in london, or arbat in moscow, or "soho" in nyc. this is one that i love very much. later i wil upload a few more here, and more on my photo-blog. d-lux2 Welcome, dear visitor! It's so sad to see the affairs of today. I envision a good future when both sides are reconciled and then I can breathe some fresh air and walk through all of the Middle East with an uplifted feeling of freedom and reverence. vic vic Posted August 8, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted August 8, 2006 deffenetly agree with u, both jewish and muslim cultures (and for that matter to mentions christianity too) are great and beatiful traditions. the only problem seems to be now that extremists and redicalists dectate the tones. i hope that this war now will clearify to those terorists and their friends that those provocations will not be tolorated any more neither by israel nor by the international comunity. For example, one can see the highlights and shadows clearly rendered on the subjects. I'm still surprised that PJ's still go the foreign countries with large DSLR's. I prefer to have more interaction with my subjects and a professional "p and s" camera works very well. In fact, a small camera has gotten me some good conversations before and I am glad for it. I think that this picture makes a good case for using a professional p and s for capturing events from a more intimate stance than what DSLRs can offer. vic vic Posted August 8, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted August 8, 2006 ah albert, i defenetly agree with u. i have to tell u that this little camera was my first digital camera i bought. and i get used to it so fast, just in a few days i could produce photos that look like photographs in my view. it also works very fast, and the photographic controls are great. by the way, all those photos of telaviv u mentioned were done in jpeg. with RAW and serious processing it would look much better. and ya, for most uses, u can produce very good quality photos even in jpeg. I am considering finding one or waiting til I get the Dlux-3 when it comes out. We may complain a lot about the depth of field that digicams give but isn't the old saying "f8 and be there?" vic vic Posted August 8, 2006 Author Share #12 Posted August 8, 2006 ah, then might be better to wait to the new one. i saw on this forum that there going to be soon. about 3d, ya - u just need to know how to expose. working with mp camera, i have a very developed sensitivity to exposure and with dlux2 u can control it too. the photos need a little fine tuning in order to give it the "look" that u want - but every photo from camera or scanner needs it if u want to make it look good. i can really recomend u this camera or the newer version. as u said, the photos speack for themsleves about what can be done with it. about f1.4 and 2... well this range is almost my normal aperture with mp camera wether with 28 or 50 lens. but i have never concidered the dlux2 as a replacement for leica mp and its lenses, so i have no complaints at all. and ya, the appraoch of being with f8 in the rite place and rite time is just as valuable as f1.4 :-)))) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
