If you use wide angle lenses and a flash with the M8 then check this out.

Michael Bass just modified the Voigtlander Double Shoe adapter for me and turned it into a Hot shoe adapter. You can see photos of his handywork here:

I don't want to get into a big discussion about using a flash with a Leica, there are times that I need to use it for work and this little adapter makes my work that much easier and paralax free.

Aaron--

Great device! Thanks for posting.

But I can't find it on Bass's web site. No matter what I do, the links I follow all end up at the Nikon-Canon page.

Any help on finding the shoe you show would be appreciated.

Thanks to Aaron Lee Fineman for asking for this item and describing the problem! I am just the engineer and problem solver, and tried to come up an easy to use, relatively low cost solution for the missing PC port on the M8.

For those who use a Visoflex finder that covers the hot shoe, I made a Low Profile Hot Shoe Pickup that connects via a cable to another hot shoe or just ends in a plug and is less than 0.25 inches in height.

These and other items can be seen in the "Misc Pictures" post on my site (use the right hand column drop down navigation box to get there), or ask!

Problems Welcome!

Michael;

i would be interested in a simple pc-socket/hotshoe adapter: low profile and mostly metal with a single viewfinder shoe on top. sort of the plain vanilla solution. pc socket out the left side.

Great solution, I will be buying one asap.

Can I ask you which flash you use to get the best results?

Like you, I need to use flash fairly regularly. I have tried the metz 54mz-3 (with the appropriate adapter) and the Nikon SB800, and cannot get any kind of decent results. I know ttl is not an option but regardless of the other settings I try, I am not happy with the results. Thanks for your advice.
