ktkuo Posted July 4, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted July 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I enjoy my DMR + R9 for couple months. However, when I take pcitures with 100 mm/2.8 APO, the pciture information show that I am using 180mm lens. I try my 50mm /2.0, 180mm/2.8 APO without any incorrect picture information problem. I am using firmware 1.1 now. Â How can I correct this issue?

robsteve Posted July 4, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted July 4, 2007 Does it always show the wrong focal length or just some of the time? Â Was it an original ROM lens or did it get converted from a 3-cam to ROM?

robsteve Posted July 4, 2007 Share #4  Posted July 4, 2007 Does it always show the wrong focal length or just some of the time? It always show the wrong focal length, which was 180mm.  Was it an original ROM lens or did it get converted from a 3-cam to ROM?  It was an original ROM lens.  Where is it not showing the right focal lenght? Is it in a program you are using to view the files or is it showing 180mm on the DMR when viewing the file in the INFO screen?  I have a 100mm and I will check it tonight. If it is showing the wrong focal length on the DMR, you may need to send the lens to Leica to get the ROM programmed again. If it is correct on the DMR but wrong in the software used to view the files, it may be your software.  Robert
robsteve Posted July 4, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted July 4, 2007 I just mounted the 100mm and the 100mm focal length shows up correctly on the camera info screen and both LightRoom and PhotoMechanic. Â I am using firmware 1.1, but I have also used 1.2 and don't remember there being a problem with the 100mm APO. Â Robert
ktkuo Posted July 4, 2007 Author Share #6  Posted July 4, 2007 Hi, Robert  Thanks so much for your feedback!  I am using 100mm to take picture, and it's showing 180mm on the DMR when viewing the file in the DMR INFO screen.  I have tested all of my lens including 19mm, 21-35mm, 50mm, 100mm, 180mm and 2X APO. Every lens shows correct INFO except 100mm/2.8 APO (3854171)  Another test, 100mm + 2X APO shows 360mm in the DMR INFO screen?  Got to send my 100mm back to LEICA. Simply a miscommunication of contacts - nothing to worry about, but something the company should change whenever you have time to send in the lens. ktkuo Posted July 5, 2007 Author Share #8 Â Posted July 5, 2007 Once I send the 100mm/2.8 APO back to LEICA, how can LEICA fix this problem? If I don't check the Lens information by DMR INFO screen, I may never know my lens had some problem. Â Does LEICA production line QA check the lens data quality before shipping their lens? andybarton Posted July 5, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted July 5, 2007 Leica will check the ROM contacts (if you ask them to) and change them, or the ROM chip in the lens. Â Job done!

robsteve Posted July 5, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted July 5, 2007 By the look of the two contacts visible on the side of the lens mount, I think the ROM chips are programmed by a machine. Your lens may have lost its programming. I think I read there are only a few styles of ROM chips and when the lens is converted to ROM the lens is attached to a programmer to have the lens specifics programmed into the ROM chip.
