Susie Posted March 5, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Guys, Can someone clarify this for me: "A RAW file records only what the lens sees, therefore 6 BIT coding (which uses software to compensate for an individual lens' vagaries) is only relevant when storing the image as a JPEG." True or false? I am asking this as only a couple of my lenses are coded, and if I am saving my images as RAW, then I need not be too diligent in manually coding my lenses using the camera menu. This is on my M9 or MM1. Susie
Advertisement Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Hi Susie, Take a look here 6 BIT coding and RAW files. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
antigallican Posted March 5, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 5, 2018 Hi Susie You could just add the lens name in LR but it’s much easier to have the lens doing the works for you. Lenses do indeed get corrected in LR even in raw. Take a picture with a wide lens then import to LR then add/remove the lens data and you will see changes clearly visible
