Is this haze, fungus or just a bit of dust?

Hi all. My M6 TTL is a brand new (new old stock) purchased last week. The camera is indeed pristine, with box and all papers etc, but today I noticed something weird at the finder window (on the inside), which initially looked like fog, but after using a flashlight to have a closer look, it seems to be something else. Can anybody tell what it is? The small white spot in the center is what makes me suspect it could be some kind of 'mushroom' - Also, it seems slightly -again, slightly- foggy on the inner side of that glass face, just where the spots are. Picture below.

I would think oil.

Get the seller to sort it. I mean "NOS", "Last week".

If it was well out of warranty I'd say lift the top and clean it (it's not that hard to do), but this should be borne by the dealer/seller.

I have purchase a NOS M6 myself and even though the camera was new and unused, it suffered from a very slight haze in the viewfinder. The oils and glues in the camera are 20+ years old. Leica used organic glues in those days and they tend to create haze and other spots. I think this is what has happened with your viewfinder as well. Have the camera checked if it needs a CLA - have you for example checked the accuracy of your shutter times? The VF can be cleaned then as well. Even NOS camera’s need a little love and care after all those years..

Hi guys, thank you all for your input.

 

At first I thought about sending it in for a CLA before I actually start using it every week, but everything seemed just fine, speeds are on spot, film advance is smooth and everything is mint overall -except for this little thing-. I always prefer not to have cameras disassembled if there isn't an urgent/real need to do so, and that's why I came here for an insight.

 

Do you think I should send it to the technician now or it could live with those -almost- insignificant spots until it really needs a CLA? And yes, the seller will pay for the cleaning he said, but again, if I can preserve my M6's virginity, better then...

Shoot a roll, make sure everything is ok, then send it out to be cleaned. If there are any additional issues, those will show on your test roll.

In the long run, you’ll be happier with everything cleaned up and back up to spec.

Thanks @oldwino. Any reputable serviceman anybody can recommend? I am in Spain. Or the best shot would be sending it to Leica/Solms in Germany?

I could only recommend people in the USA. But somebody in Spain must service Leicas, I hope!
