Shooting the TL2 in Manual Mode

I used the "search" function and couldn't find any specifically relevant posts or threads on this topic, but how good/intuitive is the TL2 when shooting in Manual mode, both ergonomics and metric data/feedback (light meter, guidance, etc)?  I'm considering the TL2 both for its overall design/interface and image quality, but also because it seems it's well suited to shooting completely in Manual mode (assigning the two top-right, back dials to Aperture and Shutter speed).  

 

I've held/tried several other competing cameras that would otherwise seem ideal for manual shooting (dedicated dials), but have been disappointed with either the ergonomics, input/interface (light meter), or both.  How do you guys feel the TL2 performs in this regard?

Hello. I use my TL2 in manual mode often. TL2 is very intuitive. It's probably the most logical and natural camera to use. I use my with both manual M lenses and TL autofocus lenses. According to mood. But you will probably find that you will often use different auto function. But you ask if it works well in manual mode and it does.

Yes, many that have owned the T enjoy shooting manually. Especially with non native lenses. Look thru the images posted in this thread and you will find many taken with non TL lenses. Very intuitive to shoot manually. Personally, I prefer using one of my M lenses over a TL lens on the T. A whole slew of other lens possibilities opens up going manual with conversion rings.

To be clear, I was primarily referring to the on-camera controls for shutter/aperture, not so much "manual" focusing lenses.  I just wondered if it was comfortable ergonomically and informative from a metric/metering standpoint (I'm not sure what the EVF or even screen feedback looks like in manual mode...).  The camera is a complete "unicorn" with respect to finding one to demo/test fit.

Yes, it is comfortable ergonomically. There are two programmable thumbwheels. You also can see the metering from the rear screen or thru EVF, including a histogram.

I only use it in manual mode. Due to the wheels it's very comfortable to use it in this mode.
