DRabbit Posted July 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey all, You had helped me last week in making my decision to buy the Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5 Heliar (as much as I'd like the Leica... can't afford it right now...) I got the lens yesterday, so I went out to play with it today, and I'm really happy with my purchase! I also got the HK Magnifier and it does help with focusing... One concern though, and maybe others have experienced it with this lens... are your frame lines accurate? I'm having a hard time getting a feel for that, and this is the only lens I have a problem with. Anyway, here's two shots from the lens: PS. I'm getting pretty darn good at focusing... egibaud Posted July 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2007 Hi, Frame accuracy... yesterday I spoke with a Leica official dealer. And we spoke about frame accuracy. The frame is calculated to be correct at the shortest focusing distance (with a Leica lens) this means that with a Cron 50, at 70 cm, your picture is spot on your frame, the further the distance the more picture outside the frame. It is surely better this way than missing out part of the picture. Eric
sean_reid Posted July 4, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 4, 2007 It's not the lens, its the M8. As Eric said, and as I explained in my first M8 review, the M8 frame lines are designed to be accurate at a distance of .7 meters. That makes them quite inaccurate at further distances. Glad that you like the lens. Cheers, Sean
carstenw Posted July 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 4, 2007 In my experience, the 75mm framelines are among the worst of the range. I find that I consistently get 30-50% more in my pictures than expected.
photolandscape Posted July 5, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 5, 2007 PS. I'm getting pretty darn good at focusing... Amy, based on the two photographs you submitted, I'd say you're getting really damned good a focusing. Nice work. I'll have to take a look at the 75mmCV. volkerhopf Posted July 5, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 5, 2007 Hi, I received my CV75 also 2 days ago. I have the same problems with the viewfinder. I think the reason for the problem is, that the 50mm frame lines are close and dominating while the 75mm lines have only the corners highlighted. This leads to taking the 50mm top lines into account. geoffreyg Posted July 5, 2007 Share #7 Posted July 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, maybe. I find the 50 liines with the 50 'cron an exercise in negotiation. I propose a cropping to the camera, it makes up its own mind and preseents an answer back. There is some creative distance between the two positions. Generally, the line on the bottom and the left side is more or less on target. The upper one and right side one are about 20-30% tight on a shot focused at infinity. Has anyone else noticed athat you can (more or less) crop using one or two of the frame lines and letting the other sides "float"? Geoff G
