jonladd Posted July 3, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted July 3, 2007 I just got one from Onecall.com for $849 free shipping
leicar7 Posted July 4, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted July 4, 2007 I appreciate the quick feedback, but these things must be moving with warp speed. Â Samy's and Onecall are backordered, and Camera West's websit seems only to be about used gear. Maybe I'm missing something.

glenerrolrd Posted July 9, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted July 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered one about 7 weeks ago from Freestyle LA and was promised " two weeks"then it was 2 more and 2 more I am supposed to get mine 7-15-07. I hope it's worth the wait. I am looking for a small versatile high qua lity camera and this will be my first Leica so I shall wait! Mike I spent a few days looking for this camera ..maybe I can help. My wife Carolyn borrowed a Vlux when we were on the Leica Akademie trip in Germany in june. It is an awsome camera because(1) it produces very high quality images in either Raw or JPEG (2) the zoom range provides for great flexibilty 35-420mm (3) Image Stabilization extends your range . (4) viewing thru the EVF is excellent..not as good as a DSLR but very adequate. It very light weight making it a great choice for travel . I asked the Leica representatives whether this camera was going to be like the d-Lux 2 ..Leica committed to a specific quantity..when they were gone ..no reordering as new model d-Lux 3 would replace it. Evidently the V Lux is intended as a catalog item( implying periodic shipments to and from Leica). The initial batch is sold out ...this means all that Leica has are in the hands of dealers . The next batch is due sometime in August. My perspective is that if the dealer doesn t have it now ..they will not have any before mid August. Most dealers have no idea when they will get anything from Leica . I contacted about 6-8 dealers and found one at Camera West LA store. I also understood that David at Dale Labs in Florida may have one in stock.
--davez Posted July 9, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted July 9, 2007 I noticed that the VLUX-1 is now featured in the Harrington's catalog; and I was on a tour with someone who bought theirs from them. I had purchased mine from Ritz Cameras in Santa Rosa CA in December. They had a few in stock; then. I have been very happy with it once I read the manual a few times (150 pages of fine print; intimidating for someone making the upgrade from a point and shoot.) --davez
