Hello all,

After a very long time I've started shooting DNGs on my M8. I took shots this afternoon and when viewing them on the rear LCD, the camera displayed the image, and then some seconds later, the colour profile changed... as if a filter was being processed. I've not shot colour in absolutely ages nor DNGs, so can't remember if they camera did this previously. I've only had the thing for 10 years!

Can I turn this 'function' off? I only look at the rear LCD for reference... its nice not having a 'coffee stain' for this reason.

With best wishes, and excuse my ignorance about all the functions of this wonderful piece of kit.

I believe that you're actually given a JPEG extracted from the DNG file that has been created; this might explain the shifting image. I usually set the option to DNG only (as opposed to DNG + JPEG) and just turn off the display ... in this way I have no distractions. I suppose that you can also choose a histogram to be displayed as part of the feedback you are given ... again, I turn all of that off.

#metoo :) And the visual effect you describe is probably the shift between a quick preliminary JPEG and a somewhat better one a few seconds later. (The LCD cannot display a DNG, just a JPEG calculated from the DNG)
