hiphopopotamus Posted January 17, 2021 Share #21 Â Posted January 17, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bumping an old thread I realise, but interested in opinions given the following: Price-wise, on the second hand market, the 35mm 2.4 and 2.5 Summarits are currently on approximate par with the 35 Summicron v3 (made in Canada version). At equal pricing, on a digital M, and assuming this would be the only 35mm in your arsenal: what would be your choice, and why?

Summarit.....aspherical, more modern, better resolution and the .4 stop difference is negated by digital iso levels !  easy !
sebben Posted March 8, 2021 Share #23 Â Posted March 8, 2021 The only downside of the Summarit is that it only closes focuses to 0.8m
shirubadanieru Posted March 8, 2021 Share #24 Â Posted March 8, 2021 nothing beats a cron. summarits may be more recent BUT: - (too) modern / sharp rendering (some people like it though) - 0.8m close focus & the focus throw is wayyyy too short for my taste - loses half a stop
Jeff S Posted March 8, 2021 Share #25  Posted March 8, 2021 Since thread started 3 years ago, the Summarit line has been discontinued.  On the other hand, the 35 Summarit has less tendency to flare or to focus shift than the 35 Summicron ASPH (post #7), and it is priced lower.  All capable, with trade offs, as usual. Summarit-M is much newer, made for digital, including coding and has better handling. To me it is best RF lens for handling. All is very smooth, done by slight move of single finger. And focus tab on Summarit-M is superior to primitive, plastic of Cron's. I had some ELC lenses with those plastic tab and quality was subpair.
