Ludders Posted December 30, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Love my Q and love the Leica leather half case in which it lives but is there anyway I can change the screw that secures the case to the camera to include a tripod thread? Getting fed up with removing the case each time I want to mount it on a tripod. Would welcome any advice.
Advertisement Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Hi Ludders, Take a look here Tripod mounting in Leica half case. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Gobert Posted December 30, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2017 You could buy a seperate RRS B9 or BPnS plate and place it over the half case. It embodies both Arca Swiss as the “traditional” screw in system. May be you need a longer bolt (be careful!).
Leica Guy Posted December 30, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 30, 2017 I once had the Leica half case, but sold it for the exact problem you’re dealing with. I had to take it off to use a tripod. I never found a solution, but admittedly I liked the Arte Di Mano case much more. I carry an Arca Swiss plate with me I purchased on eBay. I screw it into the Arte Di Mano half case bottom when I want to use a tripod. It’s a DP-70 by Desmond. Cost around $10 which is a lot less expensive than RRS
Keith_W Posted December 30, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 30, 2017 You could consider the Lim's Design half case for the Leica Q. It has an integrated Arca-Swiss plate. http://www.limsdesign.com/product/detail.html?product_no=156&cate_no=12&display_group=
Ludders Posted December 30, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted December 30, 2017 Thanks All Keith_W where in the UK can you get this case?
Keith_W Posted December 30, 2017 Share #6 Posted December 30, 2017 I don't know Ludders. I have no affiliation with them, and I don't live in the UK. If you google "Lim Leica half case", a few eBay links appear. You could also try contacting them. It looks as if they are based in Korea.
