jmr237 Posted December 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had an M-D for about six weeks and have really enjoyed it. I hope they eventually issue an update based on the M10 body, which leads to this question: would they preserve the ISO knob function of the current M10 on a new M-D body and leave the back completely blank? Or would they preserve the current M-D's design feature of an ISO wheel on the back panel? I really like the ISO wheel on the back of the M-D and have found that it serves as an extremely quick and intuitive way to change ISO. In brief use of an M10 on a few occasions in the Leica LA store, I felt the M10 ISO knob was a less effective design. To me this is an interesting question because both the ISO wheel on the back of the M-D and the ISO knob on the top of the M10 serve as important design cues to past film Leica bodies; even setting aside which approach is more effective for changing ISO, it's not clear which approach would be most consistent with the spirit of the M-D as the closet possible imitation of a film M. GG Media Works Posted December 22, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 22, 2017 It will be interesting to see what they do if they do make an M10-D. As a current owner of both the M-D and M10 I too really like the ISO dial on the back of the body. It really pays homage to the film Leica's. I would hope that they would keep this design for the M10-D and perhaps turn the M10's ISO knob into an exposure compensation knob.
