Many thanks....bracketing is not set. Arg! Was hopeful!! Will run by the Leica Store today and try another flash.

Double arg!! I have not tried other modes to see what does not allow the flash to operate. Are you in PASM? Flash mode ON.

I just worked through the entire menu. I don’t see anything obvious that should disable flash. Hopefully the Leica store expert will find something simple.

FYI, I had a SF-26, but sold it and upgraded to the SF-40. The 40 is a better overall flash and uses AA batteries which I prefer.

Good luck!

Well, when an SF 26 spends too much time in a camera bag and not in use (I rarely use it), the connectors that actuate between the hot shoe mount and the flash portion of the unit can corrode/oxidize a bit.  By tilting the head of the flash several times up and down, this corrosion will wear away and, voila, the flash is firing as good as new.  The contacts between the hot shoe mount and the upper body of the flash are apparently "slider" type contacts that need to be manipulated occasionally to keep the contact free of corrosion or oxidation.  So, there!

Thanks for all the help.  We are back!

Love it. A new lesson learned about Leica SF-26. I wonder if the SF-40 is the same. I’ll have to exercise it once a month to avoid the problem. LOL!!
