murphsoft Posted July 1, 2007 Share #1  Posted July 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello  I am a reasonably inexperienced user and have just purchased the Digilux 3. After much searching for the new f1.4 24mm leica lens, to no avail, I am looking for alternatives.  I have noted that a number of adapters are available for use with the 4/3 mount but cannot find a reasonable answer to the following  1. I have a Leica R3 with the F2 50mm lens. It is marked "For Leica R only". Will this work with the digilux using the available R adapter ?  2. I have an old Minolta 35mm SLR and a range of AF lenses. Will these work with the available Minolta MC/MD adapter? One of the lenses is a Cosina 1:3.5-4.5 19-35mm MC and another is Sigma 1:4-5.6 70-300mm. Neither have the option to change to manual focus on the lens but you can operate them in manual focus from the camera itself.  I am a new member of these forums and very inexperienced, so apologies for the basic questions here. Just trying to get my head around the varied options available for the digilux 3.  thanks in advance for any help

spylaw4 Posted July 1, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted July 1, 2007 With the correct adapter R lenses should work fine, after all Leica actually make an (expensive) adapter. I'm currently using a 28/2.8 Elmarit which seems good. There was thread some time ago with results from a 50mm/2. I'm on holiday right now so I can't post the link to the sites detailing more info on legacy lenses and the 4/3 system - but a google on 4/3 might help - or someone else here will post the link. Smallcreep Posted July 1, 2007 Share #4  Posted July 1, 2007 There's a discussion about using Olympus OM lenses here:  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/24429-om-lenses-l-1k-d3.html  And in that thread there's a reference to  BIOFOS &tm; for Olympus collectors  which looks at using OM lenses on 4/3 system cameras. Riley Posted July 1, 2007 Share #5  Posted July 1, 2007 not sure if this will suit your Minolta glass, check it out  The Rokkor Files - the Four Thirds Future
audidudi Posted July 1, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted July 1, 2007 2. I have an old Minolta 35mm SLR and a range of AF lenses. Will these work with the available Minolta MC/MD adapter? In a word, No. The MF and AF Minolta lenses are not interchangeable and at present, I'm not aware of anybody offering a 4/3-> Minolta AF lens adapter. Ditto for the Minolta Vectis range of lenses. Sorry...
