flashinm Posted November 18, 2017 Share #1  Posted November 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I have a Leica Summicron R 50mm f2 that has a little haze in the front group. Should be easy to clean, but I can't figure out how to get the front name id ring off. Most lenses will just unscrew off the front, but this one won't budge. I don't see any type of grub screws or anything that might be holding it in place. Anyone know? Thanks.

flashinm Posted November 20, 2017 Author Share #3  Posted November 20, 2017 this might help..  http://www.digicamclub.de/showthread.php?t=12430  I did find that one. The 50mm does not have a grub screw like that one does, but that's what got me wondering if there was something else that I wasn't aware of. I should have mentioned that this is the second version of the lens, with 55mm threads. I have one of those rubber friction tools to remove the id ring, but this one won't budge.
SilentShutter Posted November 20, 2017 Share #4  Posted November 20, 2017 I think there is maybe a reason behind it is not so easy to demontage the lens ? If you fail at this point how do you think you put it together correctly ?

If you fail at this point how do you think you put it together correctly ?  It's very simple actually. For most lenses from this era, you unscrew the id ring, remove 3 screws under that, and the front group unscrews with a spanner wrench. A lot of times (including this lens), the rear group can be removed without removing anything else.

simonjacobs Posted January 29, 2018 Share #7  Posted January 29, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is definitely a case of the blind leading the blind but mine twisted off with a silicon bung and was obviously glued on. Grub screw behind .
