kmgareis Posted November 11, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Does anybody know or has experience with the combination of a current Monochrom and an older Noctilux 1.0? My question is if an older lense still produces qualitatively high results with the high amount of pixels. I used to have the first Monochrom and the combination with the Noctilux was impressive. For a short time I had Sony A7 and the results were very disappointing - which I believe was due to the 42MP of the A7. Therefore I wonder what the results are with the current Monochrom. Thanks. Advertisement Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Hi kmgareis, Take a look here Monochrom and older Noctilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeff S Posted November 11, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) A quick web search showed a number of folks who loved the older Noctilux on an a7. Some wide angle Leica lenses don't play well with Sony, but that's not because of MP. BTW, I believe the A7 is 24MP, unlike the a7r or more recent iterations. Regardless, no reason it shouldn't work well with the M246... or the M10.... or the SL....barring user error. kmgareis Posted November 12, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted November 12, 2017 Thanks Jeff - you are right... it was a A7r I used.
Belle123 Posted November 19, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 19, 2017 I use the 246 with Noctilux 1.0 occasionally. Works fine. Being a softer lens, of course one can’t expect really sharp outcome like Aspherical lenses. Have also had good luck with it at smaller aperatures shooting landscapes on the 246, using an ND filter most of the time when in any daylight conditions. Can’t comment on your A7r experience except to say seems Leica lenses do best on Leica. Recently tried this lens on Hasselblad X1D and initial try was not crazy about it. But mostly was due to focusing which was trickier and will try again.
