Which photo hosting site

What do you want to do with the site?

Do you want to just store them there, or show them there too? Is it to avoid uploading them to this site?

There's no reason why linking through to Flickr photos means they won't show here. This one is loaded on Flickr, and linked through from there, for example

Wow!

Andy--I didn't know you/we/Web/Forum/anyone could do that! Now I've got to find out how. ;)

Tom--

NY Times' David Pogue recently did an article on some of the cheap sites. Check out http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/05/technology/circuits/05pogue.html?pagewanted=1&ei=5087%0A&em&en=fcc6fb9ffa3aaeb9&ex=1181361600.

When you click on the paperclip "add attachments" button, it gives you an option to use an external URL.

Just paste in the Flickr URL (making sure to remove any text after the '.jpg' bit)

Thanks guys.

Amazing, when I get it right I still get it wrong.

I managed to post a photo direct but on the wrong thread!!

See:

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/about-leica-forum/27312-posting-photo.html

I tried to post a picture via Flickr but kept getting "Invalid File" for the URL.

I can get two URLs for a picture.

The one from the "Properties" when I right click is:

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1354/673622278_ce40b5ab24.jpg?v=0

and the one from the top of the computer screen is:

Violet Ground Beetle on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Both of these work as links and if you open the links you will see that the file size of the picture is below 960x960 and 240k, so what causes the "Invalid File" message?

I am happy though as I know I can at least post direct. The picture was my first decent macro from my D-Lux3.

Oops, I think I have answered my own question.

In Flickr open the photo and click on "See different sizes" select the size and then copy the URL from "2. Grab the photo's URL:"

Post that URL into the thread.

Like this:

A Result!!

Thanks again.

Maybe we should post all our photos at Flickr and just link to them from here to save server space for Andreas...

Thanks.

The bit that makes it invalid is the text AFTER the '.jpg', in your case above '?v=0'

Dont encourage them Allan, they will all put 900x by 850KB plus files that take forever to view. Some are genuinely rude with their digital diatribe.

Andreas should just clean the server out every six months. No one here pays to have files stored.

Thanks again.

What's crazy was that I couldn't see the .jpg in the URL. I blame bifocals!!

Anyway did you like the picture. One of my first attempts at b&w ((done in the camera).

This D-Lux3 is good, isn't it.
