James Mitchell Posted June 28, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A colleague of mine is looking for an IR filter to fit this lens. It seems to have a .75 pitch to the threads, similar to the 40mm 'cron, and the 39mm/.5 that Leica sent doesn't fit very securely. The hood, I believe splits and takes a Series VII filter. Does anyone make a 39mm/.75 pitch or a Series VII UV/IR-Cut Filter?
Advertisement Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Hi James Mitchell, Take a look here UV/IR-Cut Filter for 35mm 'lux Pre-ASPH?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
James Mitchell Posted June 28, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted June 28, 2007 Or, what about getting any 39mm/.75 filter to swap the IR-cut glass? Are these easy to find?
Etruscello Posted June 28, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 28, 2007 For my 35mm Lux pre-ASPH, I drop a 49mm B+W IR Cut filter in the lens hood. If you have the original lens hood, you'll note that it comes apart. It accomodates the above filter nicely and screws back together again tightly. The 35mm Lux pre-ASPH cannot be coded, but I find that the minimal cyan drift that is caused by the filter is easily fixed in Photoshop CS3. Most of the time, you won't notice cyan drift. Good luck with the solution of your choice. Tom P.
gravastar Posted June 28, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 28, 2007 You can get the B+W series 7 UV-IR cut 486 filters from Willkommen bei Foto Huppert Their part number (Bestell-Nr.) is 90685486 It's on page four of the B+W Spezialfilter section. The quickest way to find it is to enter 90685486 in the "Direktkauf" search window on the home page. As Thomas said an alternative is to use a 49mm filter. You may find you will have to use a slim one or reverse a standard one (thread facing away from the lens) to get it to fit between the two hood sections. It will probably also be a loose fit, or at least when I tried it was. Bob.
