--I have been reading all the info on the D Lux 3 which I own. It seems that one of the "Cons" on the camera is that it is pretty slippery. Well I have a cure for that. I have inserted a photo of mine with the quick fix installed. I don't think it detracts from the beauty of the camera. On the back side all that is needed is a small piece installed on the place were your thumb rest.

The item that I used is called "Stair Tread" self adhesive. Can be bought at Home Depot or any other home center. Have used it on my Pro cameras for years and it still looks like new. Hope this helps

You could also get hold of sheet neoprene from clark rubber and wrap the whole front and right end in it. It will give you a much better grip. You dont need to do teh LH end. If you are queezy use Henzo rubber cement, you can wipe it back off.

The most secure strap I've found for both my Digilux II and the D-Lux 3 is a little thing called a "sling" made by leicagoodies.com. It's just a few bucks and way better than any strap I've tried. It doesn't get in your way, the camera doesn't dangler from your wrist and bank into things and there is no way the camera can get knocked out of your hand much less slip off accidentally.

Hi Chris,

The sling looks interesting, Have to read up on it. You say it fits well on the D Lux 3 ?

I would hate to drop it. I see he taks paypal.

Thanks much, I'm a sucker for goodies :D

I took it off the Digilux II and used it on the D-Lux 3 when I sent the Digilux II in to have the sensor replaced. It was a bit difficult to fit it on a Digilux II, it was more difficult to fit it on the D-Lux 3, but it fit and it works extremly well. Much, much better than a wrist strap.

It makes the camera feel like it's part of your hand. The camera body is always in the right place and well balanced. It's not a glove-like hand grip made of leather so it doesn't make your hand hot & uncomfortable if your walking with the camera for a few hours. I don't think I could shake the camera loose if I tried. It's the best $20.00 accessory (and the only accessory) I've bought for my cameras.

That looks nice. I actually put my D-Lux 2 in a small cardboard box which I painted black. It looks different for sure. But it fit's perfectly. I also cut a hole in the front for the lens. Then I replaced the lens cap with a black one. The back of the box can open up allowing access to the rear controls and LCD. I cut parts of the top out to allow access to the shutter release and on off switch.

Overall the camera feels much nicer and is now protected. I doubt that it will ever slip from my hands. This was part of a project to do street shooting. The glowing rear LCD screen alerted people that the camera was on. Now you can not see the screen. I also made a smaller box to cover the lens and I made an old fasion style lens cap for it.

I can be standing right in front of people and I use the camera shooting at the hip level and people don't notice that I'm taking photographs.

Maybe it is time for a Nokkia and you can fake a convo while you photo people.

Hello! So, the Sling does work on a D-Lux 3! I was told it wouldn't work :( :

Hello

Thanks for your interest in Leicagoodies.

Unfortunately the Sling will not fit the D-Lux 3 because of the different

shape of the lugs on that camera.

kind regards,

Oh, well. Now I will order it. Thanks! :D
