jip Posted September 10, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey guys, Got a second R8 recently for very cheap, it’s fully functional except the shutter speed dial, and the light meter selection switch go really rough. The previous owner said a glass of Coca-Cola went over it years ago... The camera is however fully functional it’s just that it’s ‘mechanically sticky’. I was wondering how to take off the shutter speed dial to clean it and it’s surroundings. As to decrease the stickiness. I can’t find a Leica R8/9 repair manual anywhere. Any help? Thanks! Advertisement Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Hi jip, Take a look here Leica R8 shutterspeed dial ‘repair/clean’. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted September 11, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2017 I'd invert the camera and use a Qtip lightly moistened with water to clean the dial. The inversion, of course, is to ensure there is no fluid leakage to the inside of the camera.
jip Posted September 12, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted September 12, 2017 The dirt/stickyness is below it not on the part that is user accessible by default.
jip Posted September 13, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted September 13, 2017 I'd think taking of the shutter speed dial would be easy...
wildlightphoto Posted September 15, 2017 Share #5 Posted September 15, 2017 I'd think taking of the shutter speed dial would be easy... I suspect it involves taking the top cover off the camera.
