MATE fair market price

I've owned two E55's and two E49's over the years.  The E49 versions did seem to have less issues switching frame lines.  The E49 also adds the focus tab and a vented hood (for less OVF obstruction).  Optically, I don't recall one version being any better or worse than the other.  Earlier posts have already noted the MATE's tendency to flare / veil at 50mm.

Leica made the change from V1 to V2 solely for the lens flair. I dont feel the DOF on the V2 makes a big deal.

Leica claimed before the V2 that V1 does not need lens hood due to its slightly extended horn like filter mount ring. but I remembered the bottom portion (near the 6 oclock) of that extension actually can contribute the relection into the lens. V2 cut it down and improved the vented lens hood.

Puts writes that the second version "has the same optical cell, but improved ergonomics, with a focusing tab and improved selection mechanism for the focal lengths...and also smaller than its predecessor with a 49mm and slightly shorter mount"

I enjoy my WATE and the Universal Wide-Angle Finder.  Does the camera rangefinder frame lines change automatically when one shifts between the 28/35/50 on the MATE?

I'm thinking not.  And if not, how do frame lines function with the MATE?

Thanks

I use my hand a lot to reduce the risk of flair. Easier with live view.
