Thanks to Reddotcameras I am now an official Q owner, batteries charging as I type. I managed to grab a few snaps around the city before the battery died.

Is there an 'airplane mode' to save battery? or any other useful tips would be greatly appreciated.

. Always turn it off. Buy batteries. The lumix batteries are the preferred substitute but I have used the generic, wasabi, etc and had no issues. Welcome to the club!

Turn the camera off?  Or are you looking for something more?

It's a fair cop, however I will need to have the camera on I think.... I just don't need any wi-fi stuff killing off the battery, Now the batteries are fully charged I have had a look through the menu and found several settings, Thanks :)

Some folks never turn their Q's off, but let them power down automatically. They power up very quickly. I do keep an extra battery along, but the Q's battery is pretty good. I don't review photos automatically after each shot. I do occasionally "chimp" to check exposure or that I got "the" shot.

I am the kind of person to leave it on, I don't really chimp (a lot) I have set the EVF to extended so it is only active when I put it up to my eye and the rear screen is off. Wi-Fi is off etc and I have a spare so I'm good to go, just need a nice leather case. hahaha.

Hello, welcome to the Qlub! I recomend you to only use the finder and turn the stabilizer off. Thanks the firmware you can view the pictures on the screen without changing the settings. Maybe It would help If you put the brightness of the screen/finder down a little bit.

WiFi won't be on unless you turn it on.  I've used wifi less than half a dozen times in the last two years.   Time from sleeping camera to wake-up and camera off to ready to shoot is not all that much different.    Usually I let my camera sleep when it is my hands and (try to remember to) turn it off before putting it back in my camera bag.   I carry two spare batteries.  They are Wasabi batteries.  Cheap, but they do not last as long as the stock battery.   But with three batteries on hand I really don't care.

Early tests have shown that battery life is not as bad as you read about, I do not chimp (a lot) so I think the 2 batteries I have will do the job.

Also just bought this half case from China off eBay. really reminds me of the great work of Art Di Mano but at 1/8 the cost... we shall see when it gets here just how good it is.

I still have my SL with a 50 Summilux (pre-ash) on it for now. I also have an M8 that has just been converted to infrared and has a 28mm elmarit-M on it. I was really struggling with the huge 24-90 lens, it was very bulky and off balance (for me) ended up with neck ache & back ache after a long walk along southbank and up to trafalgar square, I was totally finished..

The Leica Q is amazing, so light, such great quality, fast, fun yet very capable. The EVF has a weird plastic cover, not sure why they did that, looking through it produces blur, I thought I had left a protective cover on but it wasn't... is this normal? I have read people say its a bit blurry, however it is not a game changer for me.

I am really enjoying it and it will certainly be with me everywhere I go and that cannot be said for the SL/24-90 combo that I had before.

Do you find it is blurry even with the diopter wheel adjusted to the best you can get? Is it the exposure details at the bottom or the actual image itself, or both, that is/are blurry? What about when you try focus peaking on manual focus? In all these situations I do not find my EVF blurry. Certainly in strong sunlight I do find I need to shade the EVF to get rid of reflections off the back of the EVF but that's all.

It depends where I look into the EVF, I have it set to my eyesight, mostly it's the lower area that has almost a bit of CA going on, weird.

As I said, not a game changer at all.

When I use MF the top and bottom info goes so it seems better, I can live with it so long as it is not my own camera that has a fault.
